Of all the things you are learning, what do you think will be the most useful when you are an adult?

Explanation

Been there, done that: We’ve all wondered if the things we learn at school will be useful for us at some point and complain about excess information. So, let’s see if your kid also thinks the same! You’ll gain insight about their favourite subjects and topics as well as the ones they enjoy less.

Guidance

The idea of “use value” is important here because it will allow you to see what your kids find practical or useful in life. This might be the perfect opportunity to differentiate between tangible and abstract themes, teaching them usefulness doesn’t have to come in material. Then discuss your children’s response and let them know that the information they are learning might help them in the future too. (You could mention a time you thought a piece of information was useless, but it actually helped you later on.) Also, try to be relatable. Let them know that you also had frustrations like theirs at times.
